The new monastery will be constructed to the design of the
St. Petersburg Buddhist monastery, the Datsan Gunzechoinei, in collaboration with the Government of Nepal
Our goal
The goal of the Fund is to assist in the building of a monastery in the community of Lumbini, Nepal, the birthplace of Siddhartha Gautama, the Buddha and founder of Buddhism. With a view to reaching the stated goal, the Fund undertakes the following action:
Assistance in the building up of a financial basis for the construction of the monastery in Lumbini, Nepal
Activities and events aimed at raising the public awareness of the cultural aspects of Buddhism and the cultural mission of the monastery in Lumbini, Nepal
Updating the public on the construction progress of the monastery in Lumbini, Nepal

THE BUDDHIST MONASTERY OF ST. PETERSBURG WAS BUILT IN 1909–1915 AT THE INITIATIVE OF AGVAN LOBSAN DORZHIEV, A BURYAT LAMA AND SCIENTIST (1853/54–1938)
THE DATSAN GUNZECHOINEI
The monastery was consecrated on 10 August 1915 and received the Tibetan name of Kun la brtse mdzad thub dbang mchhos 'byung ba'i gnas, which means 'The Source of the Sacred Teaching of the All-Compassionate Lord and Hermit'
